Erythrodiplax solimaea is a species of dragonfly from the subfamily Sympetrinae . It wasdescribedby Ris in 1911. Since Borror's revision of the genus, it has been assigned to the Attenuata group . The species is mainly found in the Amazon region of Brazil .

features

The males between 22.0 and 23.0 millimeters and the females 22.0 millimeters long abdomen ( abdomen ) is reddish brown in the males from the first to the seventh segment , with one lateral and one on the fourth to seventh segment apical black keel is located. Segments eight to ten, however, are black with a brown stripe over segments eight and nine. The abdominal appendages are brown. The abdomen of the females has a dark brown hue that turns almost black on segments eight to ten. The fourth and third segments also show pale greenish spots in the females, which are interrupted on the third by a brown keel. The thorax of the females is brownish black with interspersed yellowish-green spots of color and dark greenish sides. The face is greenish, while the forehead and the back of the head are dark brown. The hind wings are between 24.5 and 26.0 millimeters in the males; in the female 27.0 millimeters long and have a wing mark up to 3.3 millimeters in size ( pterostigma ). Both pairs of wings of the males have a distinctive, reddish brown spot that extends to the nodus . In the females, however, the spot only extends to the second (front wing) or the fourth (rear wing) antenodal vein .

Similar species

Erythrodiplax fervida is particularly similar to the species . In addition to the blacker abdomen, the spot in the wing only extends to the tip of the wing triangle .
