Esaia's boots
Esaia's boots , also Esaja's boots , (~ March 18, 1561 in Langensalza ; † August 12, 1627 in Erfurt ) was a theological enthusiast who also gathered followers.
Life
The son of a draper became a merchant and traded in fish in Langensalza. After a while he took over a wine bar in the city, which he gave up in 1603. He soon devoted himself to studying the writings of Thomas Müntzer and the Anabaptists , no longer attending church services and, in April 1605, when questioned by the superintendent Melchior Tilesius, he claimed he was Jesus Christ . Thereupon he was arrested on August 9, 1605 by order of the consistory in Leipzig, but after his release found followers of the teaching he had spread, including Caspar von Rüxleben , according to Stiefel's statement .
Jakob Böhme expressed himself several times in his publications against the doctrine of perfection.
