Esbjerg Energy is an ice hockey team from Esbjerg that operated between 2005 and 2013 as a division of the Danish sports club Esbjerg fB . The team plays its home games in the 4,195-seat Granly Hockey Arena .
history
The ice hockey department of Esbjerg fB was founded in 2005 after the football club Esbjerg fB acquired the professional license from Esbjerg IK for the AL-Bank Ligaen and expanded its range of sports to include ice hockey. Esbjerg IK was one of the most successful Danish ice hockey clubs, but has been a pure youth and amateur club since the license was sold. The greatest success of EfB Ishockey after the license change was reaching the playoff semifinals in the 2006/07 season, when they lost to Herning Blue Fox with 1: 4 wins. The Swede and former NHL player Tomas Jonsson has been the club's head coach since the 2010/11 season .
In 2013 Esbjerg fB ended its involvement in ice hockey and sold the entire department to a new investor who runs the team through Esbjerg Elite Ishockey A / S. The greatest success was achieved in 2016 with winning the Danish Championship, and the second championship title was celebrated just one year later.
The team’s biggest rivals are Herning Blue Fox and SønderjyskE Ishockey due to the proximity between the venues .
