Brett Lysak (born December 12, 1980 in St. Albert , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who last played for the Kalamazoo Wings from the ECHL .
Career
Lysak first played for the St. Albert Raiders in the Alberta Midget Hockey League . From 1996 he was active with the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League . After his third season he was selected as the top scorer of his team in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft in the second round in 49th place by the Carolina Hurricanes . He stayed in Regina for two more years, which he also finished as the best point player.
Lysak signed his first professional contract for the 2001/02 season and initially played for the Hurricanes farm team . These were the Florida Everblades in the East Coast Hockey League and the Lowell Lock Monsters in the American Hockey League . In the 2003/04 season he also played two games in the National Hockey League .
Then he moved to Europe to the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League . Lysak had a solid season and was also the "penalty box king" of the Roosters. For the new season he returned to North America , but after four games for the Manitoba Moose he went to the HC Milano Vipers in the Italian Serie A1 . The Canadian stayed for two seasons, with his team winning the championship in 2006. He spent the 2007/08 season in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen with the Odense Bulldogs . The next year he moved to EfB Ishockey in the league . In July 2010 Lysak joined the Slovenian club HK Jesenice . For the 2011/12 season Lysak moved to EC Graz 99ers . This was followed by an engagement with the Kalamazoo Wings , after which Lysak ended his active career in 2013.
