Summo iugiter studio is an encyclical of Pope Gregory XVI. dated May 27, 1832 and has the subtitle: "About mixed marriages". In his papal circular he focuses on developments in Bavaria, praises their behavior and asks King Ludwig I of Bavaria for support.

Pope Gregory XVI defined with this encyclical that mixed marriage should be understood in which the two partners belong to different religious communities, including marriages between Catholics and non-Catholic Christians . Clergy's responsibility

The Pope urged the clergy and cautioned them for some disregard. He also emphasized that it is the clergy's duty to warn against mixed marriage and, if necessary, not to allow it. This prohibition also includes the refusal to announce marriage (public notice) and separate dispensation letters . He warned against such acts and stated that they were harmful to the faith.
