features

The moths reach a wingspan of 19 to 23 millimeters for the males and 20 to 28 millimeters for the females. The moths are ocher to red-brown; the females are more monochrome, latticed in the fringe area. The caterpillars are about 16 to 23 millimeters long and are greenish or yellowish in color. The larvae of other species from the genus Archips ( A. xylosteana , A. rosana ) also live on the forage plants of Archips podana and are difficult to distinguish from this species.

The caterpillars live polyphagous on various trees and shrubs. Archips podana forms two generations a year, which fly from June to August and September and can often be observed in the light . The second generation is incomplete. The caterpillars can be found from April to May and from July to September. The caterpillars overwinter and continue to develop in the following year from April to May.
