The Eschheimertal is a valley in the canton of Schaffhausen in Switzerland . It lies between the city of Schaffhausen and the municipality of Beringen on the heights of the Randen and is part of the Schaffhausen Regional Nature Park . The Eschheimertal restaurant is located in the otherwise uninhabited valley.
The valley is a popular local recreation area and the geographic center of the canton of Schaffhausen . The obstacle-free Eschheimertalweg from Wanderland Schweiz leads through the agriculturally used valley. In winter, if the snow conditions are good, a 3–5 km long cross-country trail is groomed by the Schaffhausen cross-country hiking group.
The Schaffhausen observatory , the Beringer Randenturm and the Engeweiher , the first pumped storage power plant in Switzerland, are located on the edge of the Eschheim Valley .
