Escobaria guadalupensis is a species of plant in the genus Escobaria from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet guadalupensis refers to the occurrence of the species in the Guadalupe Mountains .

description

Escobaria guadalupensis sometimes grows solitary or branched. The spherical to slightly elongated shoots reach heights of 3 to 5 centimeters with diameters of 4 to 10 centimeters. The warts , up to 10 millimeters long, are furrowed along their entire length on the top. The 17 thick white central spines have a brown tip. They have lengths of 0.8 to 1.4 centimeters. The 36 slender white, sometimes bristle-like radial spines are 0.7 to 1.2 inches long.

The light yellow, cream-colored or pink flowers are up to 2.5 inches long. The green fruits are 1.5 centimeters long.

Systematics and distribution

Escobaria guadalupensis is found in the United States in the Guadalupe Mountains in Culberson County , Texas .

The first description by Steven Brack and Kenneth D. Heil was published in 1986.
