Escalation (spelling: ESKALATION) is a German-speaking band from Nuremberg . It combines indie, electronic elements and punk rock with brass.

history

Beginnings

Escalation was founded in 2008 by David Hutzler and Frank Schmidpeter. The group had their first appearance as a support band for the ska band Superskank at the KiSH. In the original line-up of 2008 the band consisted of David Hutzler (drums), Frank Schmidpeter (guitar), Benedikt Müller (trombone), Julian Kratzer (saxophone), Anna Stecklein (vocals), Michael Müller (electric bass). In 2009, Escalation was joined by Florian Klose (keyboard) and Patrick Feldner (trumpet).

At the beginning of 2010 Escalation began with their first EP Kaufrausch , which was recorded and produced by Hannes Mottl at Baumgeist Records in Weißenburg. In October 2010 Kaufrausch was then released as part of a CD release tour through several German cities.

With the opening of the Open Air am Berg 2010 in Eichstätt , Escalation had its first appearance at a larger festival. In 2010 Escalation took part for the first time at the NN Rockbühne in Nuremberg and reached third place in the final. In 2010 Michael Schwarzfischer (percussion) joined the band, who from then accompanied the band as the first monkey playing percussion.

From 2011 to 2012, Escalation was part of the bands sponsored by BY-on, a top funding project of the Association for Pop Culture eV that supports rock and pop artists from Bavaria. In 2011 Escalation took part in the German Newcomer Contest in Munich . In the summer of 2011 Escalation performed at various German festivals, including the Africa & Caribbean Festival in Oettingen and the Weinturm Open Air in Bad Windsheim.

First band outfit and start of international concerts

Escalation has been playing in their characteristic black and yellow band outfits since autumn 2011.

In 2012 Escalation produced their second CD with Affocalypse , which was released on the "Affocalypse Tour 2012". Escalation also toured Bavaria with six concerts. Escalation also took part in the NN Rocktour in 2012, as the winner of the NN Rockbühne 2011 in Neumarkt - a five-day tour organized by the Nürnberger Nachrichten , which gives young bands the opportunity to tour like professional acts with tour bus, management and various hotel stays .

With the Chiemsee Reggae Summer 2013, Escalation played one of their biggest festival shows to date, where several thousand visitors attended the concert of the Nuremberg ska-punk band. A promo video of the band was filmed there, which was later published on Youtube. On December 26, 2013 Escalation performed internationally for the first time with their concert at the Cross Club in Prague . This was followed by various other concerts in other European countries, including Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and other concerts in the Czech Republic. On January 9, 2014, Escalation organized the “Nuremberg Ska Revolt” in the Hirsch to celebrate its sixth anniversary.

In October 2014 Eskalation released their third CD with Zukunftsmusik , this time produced by Corni Bartels in the space studios in Munich. The publication took place on the "Zukunftsmusik Tour 2014", which included 18 cities across Germany as well as concerts in the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Belgium and Austria. On January 5, 2015, Escalation celebrated its seven-year anniversary in Milljöh in Neumarkt .

Change of singer and start of collaboration with Uncle M Music

At the beginning of 2016 Escalation separated from her previous front woman Anna Stecklein, who was replaced by Frank Schmidpeter, who now also took over the front vocals in addition to the role of guitarist. At the same time the appearance of the band was revised, and so the band now appears in new band outfits as well as with a new logo and design.

In May 2016 Escalation with Degeneration released their first music video in the new line-up. In October 2016 Escalation released their 3-track single Degeneration , which was produced by Maximilian Schlichter and Corni Bartels in the space studios in Munich. Again, the publication was accompanied by a tour of ten cities in Germany and Austria. Degeneration is the first release of Escalation on the Uncle M Music label founded by Mirko Gläser .
