The Espace Media Groupe (in the logo: espacemedia ) was a Bernese media company in the Swiss Mittelland , which was incorporated into Tamedia in 2008. Since then, Espace Media has been a division of the Tamedia Group.

history

The predecessor company was founded in 1888 in the form of a stock corporation for the Berner Tagblatt as a daily newspaper publisher and printing company (from 1993 Berner Tagblatt-Medien AG BTM, from 2001 Espace Media Groupe). In 1979 the subsidiary Berner Zeitung AG was founded. In 1983 the media company started the radio channel Radio extraBERN, on whose frequencies the successor station Capital FM made its debut in 2006 . In 1995 the media company launched the regional television station TeleBärn .

The Espace Media Groupe recently employed around 1000 people. The company focuses in particular on local and regional information and entertainment needs and operated national specialist titles in selected subject areas.

On May 24, 2007 it was announced that Tamedia would take over the majority of shares in Espace Media Groupe. On August 23, 2007, the Federal Competition Commission gave the merger the green light. In the course of 2008 the Espace Media Groupe was fully integrated into Tamedia as the "Espace Mittelland" division.
