Esplendor Geométrico is a Spanish industrial band. The band was formed in the early 1980s by Arturo Lanz, Gabriel Riaza and Juan-Carlos Sastre, all former members of Aviador Dro . The band name means "geometric splendor" or geometric and mechanical splendor and numerical sensitivity (Italian: Lo Splendore geometrico e meccanico e la sensibilità numerica ), based on a text by the Italian futurist FT Marinetti .

history

In 1981 the band released their first single "Necrosis en la Poya" on the Tic-Tac label, followed by their debut LP, "El Acero del Partido" in 1982. In 1985 the band formed their own label, Esplendor Geométrico Discos, and released her second LP, "Comisario de la Luz". Her style of industrial rhythms was expanded to include two more albums - 1987 "Kosmos Kino" and 1988 "Mekano-Turbo". After the live album "Live in Utrecht " in 1989 , future versions appeared on the Geometrik label .

"Sheikh Aljama", released in 1991, incorporated Arabic influences into the music, while "Veritatis Splendor" (1994) and "Balearic Rhythms" (1996) represented a partial relaxation of their traditional abrasive sounds. Up to this point the band was a duo consisting of Arturo Lanz and Gabriel Riaza. In 1992 Esplendor Geometrico grew into a trio through the entry of Saverio Evangelista. He was already known for his project Most Significant Beat where he worked with EG on the album Conrol Remoto 1.0 in 1992 . Gabriel Riaza left the band in 1995. Esplendor returned in 1997 with "Polyglophone". The following year, artists like Coil and Chris & Cosey contributed to their remix album "EN-CO-D-Esplendor". In 2002 "Compuesto de Hierro" hit stores, while a double-CD compilation "Anthology 1981-2003" hit stores in 2005.

Lanz now lives in Beijing and Evangelista in Rome , but the group is still active and took part in selected live performances as well as their last performance in Kyoto , Japan with Peter Christopherson from Throbbing Gristle , Coil, Robert Görl from DAF and CoH . In April 2007 a new album, "8 Traks & Live", was released with eight new audio tracks and a DVD with recordings from the DeciBELIO Festival Madrid in June 2006.
