Estância , officially Município de Estância , is a city in the state of Sergipe (SE) in Brazil . According to the census, 64,409 inhabitants lived here in 2010 on an area of 644 km². The population was estimated to grow to 69,184 inhabitants on July 1, 2019.
The first administrative powers were granted in 1831 after it was outsourced from Vila de Santa Luzia , today Santa Luzia do Itanhy . On May 4, 1848 the place was raised to a city (cidade). Estância became the bishopric of the Roman Catholic diocese of Estância in 1960 .
