Estadio Metropolitano de Mérida is a multifunctional stadium in Mérida , Venezuela . It was built in 2005 to host the 2007 Copa America . Home games of the Venezuelan national football team and the Estudiantes de Mérida club are also played there.
The stadium is part of a sports complex called Cinco Águilas Blancas in the south of Merida .
The opening game took place on May 25, 2007. In a friendly match Venezuela defeated Honduras 2-1.
