history

The Estadio Parque Artigas was built in 2002. While other sources give the capacity as 12,000 spectators, La República reported in April 2000 on the occasion of the planned construction of a spectator capacity of 13,000 people. The construction costs for the shell were at that time to 500,000 US dollars estimated. In the course of the reopening of the now unused sports facility in October 2009, a seating volume of 3,000 was rumored. The stadium serves as the home ground of Club Atlético Juventud de Las Piedras , but is also used by various institutions in the micro-region of La Paz , Las Piedras and Progreso .

On September 2, 2012 a game of the Primera División Profesional de Uruguay was played for the first time in Parque Artigas with the encounter between Juventud and Central Español . So far, Juventud's first division home games have taken place in the Estadio Martínez Monegal in neighboring Canelones .
