The Estadio de Atotxa ( Spanish Estadio de Atocha , full name: Estadio Municipal de Atocha , short: Atotxa ) was a football stadium in the Spanish city of San Sebastián in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country .
history
The Estadio de Atotxa was the home stadium of the Spanish first division club Real Sociedad San Sebastián for eighty years from 1913 to 1993 . In the end it offered 17,000 spectators. In 1993 Real Sociedad moved to the newly built Estadio Anoeta . After a few years of vacancy, the old venue was demolished in 1999. Residential houses were then built on the site. The Atotxa itself was the successor to the Estadio de Ondarreta , in which Real Sociedad was based from 1909 to 1913.
On December 28, 1982, the second leg of the Supercopa de España took place in Atotxa . After a 0: 1 against Real Madrid in the first leg in Madrid, Real Sociedad won the Supercopa with a 4: 0 after extra time at their home stadium.
