Live and act

As a student he was excellent and was being prepared for a theological career. He studied at the Pontifical Maronite College in Rome and also researched manuscripts and literature on the liturgy and history of the Maronites. At the age of 25 he returned to Lebanon and continued his research there.

At the age of 40 he became a Maronite patriarch. Under him the Maronite Church was reformed and the Latinization largely pushed back.
