Esther Steindl (born February 10, 1991 ) is a former Austrian ski jumper .

Career

Steindl, who competes for HSV Absam Bergisel , made her international debut at the age of 15 as part of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Toblach . As 33rd she ended up just behind the points. At two summer competitions in Klingenthal and Pöhla in August 2006 , she clearly missed a good placement. In her first competition in the 2006/07 season she won her first points in Villach with rank 30. She was also successful in both competitions in Toblach. After she won points again in Ljubno in February, after rather disappointing results at the end of the season, she ended up in 57th place in the overall Continental Cup ranking. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2007 in Tarvisio , she jumped to 30th place in the individual competition.

At the Austrian Championships in Oberstdorf in 2008 , Steindl won bronze in the individual. Internationally, she could no longer score and had to bow to the pressure to perform in the Austrian team. She couldn't keep up with the performance of her team members. After she decided to study at the Stams Ski School in 2009 after completing her high school diploma, she took a step back from ski jumping and officially ended her active career in August 2010 at the age of only 19.

After the end of her active career, Steindl will work as a trainer at HSV Absam Bergisel parallel to her teaching degree.

Steindl's brother Fabian is active as a Nordic combined athlete.
