Etienne Déconfin

Etienne Déconfin (* 1990 in Bourges ) is a French jazz musician ( piano ).

Portal grew up in a family of musicians. At the age of five he received his first piano lessons; his parents also gave him a drum kit to improvise on. At the age of ten he won the renowned Claude Kahn classical music competition. At the age of 13 he finished classical lessons and turned to jazz. Between 2003 and 2005 he played in several jazz bands. Since 2005 he attended high school in Bourges, where he met the double bass player Géraud Portal , with whom he soon appeared very regularly in Bourges and the surrounding area.

From 2007 on he accompanied the American saxophonist Tony Pagano for three years. Since 2009 he has developed his trio with Géraud Portal and John Saumonette, with whom he recorded the album Elements in 2012 . From 2010 he worked with musicians such as Abraham Burton , Simon Goubert , Lionel Belmondo , François Gallix, Jean-Sébastien Simonoviez, Yoann Serra , Philippe Soirat, Charles "Lolo" Bellonzi, Jeremy Pelt , Marcus Miller , Ari Hoenig , Alex Han and Antoine Paganotti . In different constellations he recorded several albums with the saxophonist Gaël Horellou . Géraud Portal brought him to the recordings of the album Fort Greene Story (2014). Together with Portal, he presented the quartet album Brothers in 2015 . He toured internationally with Cannonsoul & Beyond .
