The Ettaler Manndl (also Ettaler Mandl ) is a 1633 meter high limestone spike in the Ammergau Alps (also called Ammergebirge ), which protrudes from a wooded side ridge of the Laber at its highest point 1686  m high . Next to the Ettaler Manndl there is another jagged rock, the Ettaler Weibl as a southern pre-summit. Below the Ettaler Manndl lies the small, already heavily silted Soilasee in a basin .

The Ettaler Manndl is a popular day tour, also because of the mountain railway that leads from Oberammergau to the neighboring summit of Laber. In the ascent to the summit, you go on an easy hiking trail. A secured path stretches from the foot of the summit structure to the summit (difficulty 1, easy in Hüsler's via ferrata atlas; without the chain protection, the rocky terrain would be classified here as rock I) The ascent is technically not difficult and secured throughout, but for Inexperienced, however, a challenge because of the exposure and the very worn limestone. The via ferrata passage is tricky when it is wet or ice, especially in spring and autumn. Inexperienced people should therefore avoid building the summit. Lately there have been an increasing number of accidents, some with fatal results.

The western edge and the south wall also provide for more demanding climbers routes in the IV. To V. difficulty .

The normal route leads from Ettal Abbey (parking lot at the eastern abbey wall) to the summit in about 2 hours. The starting point for a circular hike is the valley station of the Laber Bergbahn near Oberammergau . From the mountain station on the Laber it is only approx. 45 minutes to the summit of the rocky junction.
