Eucera nigrescens is a bee from the family of Apidae .
features
The bees have a body length of 13 to 15 mm (females) or 12 to 15 mm (males). The females are hairy brown. Your splint brush (Scopa) is white. The matt mesonotum is only irregularly and superficially structured like points. The third tergite has clear hair spots on the sides. The males are hairy red-brown, the hairs on the third to seventh tergite are black. The labrum and the frontal plate ( clypeus ) are yellow. The mesonotum is weak and only superficial, with larger spaces in between. The tergites have no bands at the rear edge. The heel phalanx (metatarsus) on the hind legs is not curved and has parallel side edges.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is distributed in southern, central and southern northern Europe. Pollen is exclusively of leguminous plants collected (Faboideae). The animals fly from mid-March to early July. Cuckoo bee of the species is Nomada sexfasciata .
When visiting flowers (here a vetch ) the antennae are placed back in a characteristic way.
