Eugen German

Eugen Deutsch (born November 9, 1907 , † February 8, 1945 ) was a German weightlifter .

Life

Deutsch began his career together with two brothers at KSC Friesenheim in the Arbeiter-Athletenbund Deutschlands (AABD). In this association he won the 1928 federal middleweight championship in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . In 1930 he moved to KSV Augusta Augsburg and thus to DASV v. 1891. He succeeded in increasing his performance and by 1936 he was one of the world's best light-heavyweight lifters. After the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin , he returned to Friesenheim, ended his career and became a youth coach.

He died as a soldier shortly before the end of the war on February 8, 1945 in the Palatinate , his home country.

  • 1934 2nd place , EM in Genoa , with 365 kg (100-115-150) behind Fritz Haller , Austria , 370 (100.0, 115.0, 155.0) kg;
  • 1935 2nd place , EM in Paris , with 357.5 kg (100-112.5-145), behind Louis Hostin , France , 370 (105.0, 115.0, 150.0) kg and in front of Haller, 340 (92.5, 107.5, 140.0 ) kg;
  • 1936 silver medal , OS in Berlin, with 365 kg (105-110-150), behind Hostin, 372.5 (110.0, 117.5, 145.0) kg and in front of Wasif, Egypt , 360 (100.0, 110.0, 150.0) kg.

  • 1932 2nd place with 327.5 kg, OD, Wed, behind Rudolf Ismayr , Munich , 337.5 kg;
  • 1933 3rd place with 465 kg, FK, Wed, behind Ismayr, 500 kg and Eugen Jordan , Cannstatt, 465 kg;
  • 1934 1st place with 542.5 kg, FK, HS, ahead of Richard Leopold (weightlifter) , Erfurt , 525 kg and Anton Gietl , Munich, 512.5 kg;
  • 1935 1st place with 365 kg, OD, HS, ahead of Leopold, 345 kg and Duschka, Welzow, 337.5 kg;
  • 1936 1st place with 362.5 kg, OD, HS, ahead of Gietl, 357.5 kg and Karl Bierwirth , Essen , 352.5 kg.
