Eugen Tripolsky (after Russian transcription Evgeni Leonidowitsch Tripolski ; born January 30, 1962 in Dnipropetrovsk, today's Dnipro ) is a German chess referee and player of Ukrainian origin.

Tripolsky grew up in Dnipropetrovsk in a Russian-Jewish family. He learned to play chess from his father at the age of six. In 1974 he joined a chess club in Dnepropetrovsk, where his coach was the international master Vitaly Salzmann , who is now teaching in the USA. His later trainer Wladimir P. Gergel ( FIDE master , * 1939) had the greatest chess influence on him . In 1977 Tripolsky was runner-up at the school championship of the Ukrainian SSR . In 2000 he won the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast lightning championship .

Tripolsky became known in Ukraine as a referee. For example, he was a referee at the U16 Youth Olympics in Artek .

Tripolsky has held the title of International Master since November 2000. He set the standards for this at two tournaments in Ukraine. Since 2001 he has been the FIDE International Referee. From 1982 to 2002 he was a chess trainer in chess school number 9 in Dnepropetrovsk. In 2002 Tripolsky moved to Germany. He played there first for BSW Wuppertal , then for the Ennepetal / Schwelmer club SG Ennepe-Ruhr Süd , where he is also a coach for the 1st team. Since moving to Berlin-Wilmersdorf , he has also been teaching children and youth chess there. Since May 21, 2009 he is no longer registered with the Ukrainian, but with the German chess federation.
