life and work

The son of the Württemberg major Felix Dreher studied criminal sciences in Tübingen from 1878 to 1881 and passed the higher service examination at the Department of the Interior in 1882 and 1883. He began his professional career in 1884 as a clerk at the Esslingen Oberamt and in 1888 as a government assessor at the Ministry of the Interior in Stuttgart. In 1890 he took over the management of the Aalen District Office , initially as a clerk and from 1891 as a senior bailiff. In 1896 Eugen Dreher joined the government of the Danube District in Ulm as a member of the government . After a brief interlude from 1902 to 1903 at the ministerial department for road and hydraulic engineering, he returned to the government of the Danube District in 1903 as senior government councilor and deputy to the regional president. Since the death of the District President Albert von Schmidlin on June 14, 1910, he ran the business of the District President without further promotion. It was not until 1916 that he was awarded the title of Government Director and in 1918 he became President of the Government. In 1924 he had the thankless task of dissolving his own agency and retiring himself.
