Eugene Holmes
Eugene Holmes (born March 7, 1934 in Brownsville , Tennessee , † January 19, 2007 in Düsseldorf ) was an American opera singer ( bass baritone ).
Life
Holmes first worked as a mathematician before he was discovered as a singer. He has made regular guest appearances at major stages such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York , the Vienna State Opera and the Bavarian State Opera . For almost 30 years he worked in the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and Duisburg , which became his “artistic home”. In the course of his important international career, he celebrated his greatest successes with the great Verdi and Puccini games. In 2003 Holmes was made an honorary member of the Rhine Opera.
Eugene Holmes is buried in the Düsseldorf North Cemetery.
