Eugenijus Sabutis

Eugenijus Sabutis (born September 10, 1975 in Jonava ) is a Lithuanian social democratic politician and administrative lawyer , and since April 2019 Vice Mayor of the Jonava district . Before that he was mayor (2016–2019).

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1993 at the 1st Jonava Middle School , Eugenijus Sabutis completed a bachelor's degree in philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities in 1999 and a master's degree in law at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas in 2001 . He then worked from 2001 to 2007 as a personnel specialist at AB Achema in Jonalaukis . From 2011 to 2015 he was director of the Jonava emergency room.

politics

Eugenijus Sabutis has been a member of the council of the Jonava Rajonggemeinde since March 2015 . In April 2015 Sabutis was elected deputy mayor and on December 16, 2016, as the successor to Mindaugas Sinkevičius, he was elected provisional mayor in the council of the district community. Right at the beginning of his term of office, the new Jonavos sporto arena was opened to the public in 2017 . In April / May 2017 he was elected mayor in the direct Lithuanian mayor election in the Jonava constituency for a term of two years (until April 2019). In the second ballot he prevailed against the liberal politician Remigijus Osauskas (* 1974). From May 25, 2017 to April 11, 2019 he was mayor of the Jonava Municipality Council.

In the local elections in Lithuania in 2019 , Sabutis took first place in the list of his LSDP party in the rank election and sat down through list leader Mindaugas Sinkevičius , the LSDP vice-president and former economy minister (2016-2017), by even overtook with 366 votes. Since April 11, 2019, Sabutis has been a member of the council and deputy mayor of the Jonava Rajongemeinde, deputy of Mindaugas Sinkevičius, his party comrade and the former mayor (2011-2016).

Eugenijus Sabutis is a member of the Jonava section of the LSDP party .

Eugenijus Sabutis is married. He has a son with his wife Rasa.

His cousin is Mindaugas Sabutis (* 1975), bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lithuania.
