Eugenio Figueredo (born March 10, 1932 in Santa Lucía ) is a Uruguayan football official and former member of the FIFA Executive Committee .

Figueredo was an active football player with Huracán Buceo and twice president of this club (1971–1972 and 1976–1977). From 1997 to 2006 he was President of the Uruguayan Football Association ( Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol ).

On April 30, 2013 he was elected President of CONMEBOL to succeed the resigned Nicolás Leoz . He also became his successor on the FIFA Executive Committee. After Julio Grondona's death in July 2014, he became Vice-President of the FIFA Executive Committee and resigned from his post as CONMEBOL President. He resigned from the FIFA Executive Committee in May 2015.

On May 27, 2015, he was arrested by the police in Zurich on suspicion of bribery. On the evening of the same day, he was temporarily suspended by FIFA.

In mid-September 2015, the Swiss Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) approved the extradition of Figueredo to the USA. By accepting bribes for the award of sports marketing contracts, he had massively influenced competition and distorted the market for media rights in connection with the Copa America . He is also charged with fraudulently obtaining US citizenship through a fake medical certificate. After Figueredo appealed against the extradition decision at the Swiss Federal Criminal Court, but at the same time an extradition request from his home country had been submitted, the FOJ decided on December 17, 2015 to transfer him there. The reason given was that there could be more extensive investigations against Figueredo. After his extradition on December 24, 2015, he was detained in Montevideo Central Prison. The Uruguayan judicial authorities rejected a request from his lawyer to put him under house arrest due to his age and critical health. When he was first questioned, Figueredo admitted that he had accepted bribes in the millions for years, and he also seriously incriminated the current director general of the South American football association CONMEBOL, Gorka Villar: the son of FIFA executive committee member Ángel María Villar had blackmailed Uruguayan football clubs. Clubs that felt they had been cheated of their revenue because of corruption in the allocation of television rights and had therefore reported charges were threatened with exclusion from international competitions if they did not withdraw them.
