Euphorbia dalettiensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia dalettiensis forms shrubs that branch out from the base and can reach a height of up to 2.8 meters. The square shoots have a yellowish and dark green pattern and are up to 15 millimeters thick. At the edges they are provided with very flat teeth at a distance of up to 15 mm from each other. The elongated thorn shields merge with increasing age to form a horn rim. There are spikes formed to 7 millimeters in length, which are normal to the upper stems. There are also very small stipule spines.

Simple and individual cymes are formed, which are located on 1.5 millimeter long inflorescence stalks. The cyathia reach a diameter of 3.5 millimeters. The elongated nectar glands are colored yellow and merge into one another. The clearly lobed fruit is 3 millimeters long and 5.5 millimeters wide. It stands on a bent back and 5 millimeter long handle. Nothing is known about the seed.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia dalettiensis is widespread in the east of Ethiopia in the valley of the Gobeli River on limestone slopes at altitudes of 1200 meters.

The species was first described in 1987 by the British botanist Michael George Gilbert (* 1943).
