Euphrosyne floodplains

Euphrosyne Auen (born November 3, 1677 in Kolberg , † June 15, 1715 in Kolberg ) was a German poet .

Life

She was born as the daughter of Johann Auen, city physician and council chamberlain in Kolberg. As a child, she received home tuition in Latin and ancient Greek. As early as 1688 she wrote a Latin poem for the dead on the occasion of the death of her sovereign Friedrich Wilhelm . His successor Friedrich III. she dedicated a Latin praise poem in 1690. In 1693 she came to Stargard in Pomerania to see her uncle Gottfried Auen, who was there preacher and sub-rector at the Gröning College . From Stargard, she corresponded with various scholars in Latin and French. Many of her German and Latin poems have been published in print; the compilation in Johann Carl Conrad Oelrich 's' Historischer Nachrichten vom Pommerschen schehrten Frauenzimmer lists 14 printed poems.

In 1702 she married an officer in Kolberg, Carl Christoph Fritz, who died soon afterwards. In 1709 she married Martin Henneken, a wealthy businessman from Kolberg, in her second marriage. She died on June 15, 1715 in Kolberg.
