Euro Domino was a pass offer from many European railway companies , including Russia, Turkey and Morocco until May 31, 2007. Since April 1, 2007, the Inter Rail One Country Pass has replaced this offer, although the prices have largely changed.

validity

The Euro Domino tickets were valid for three to eight days. The basic price allowed three days of free travel in the selected country. The validity could be extended at a fixed price for each additional day. The days could be freely chosen within a month (not necessarily a calendar month) and were entered by the customer if required. The pass was available for children (4–12 years), young people (12–26 years), adults (26–60 years) and senior citizens (over 60 years). The price for children was half the price for adults, and that for seniors around 15% below that of adults. There was a special price for young people that was lower than that for seniors. The offer was only offered to adults in 1st class.

Euro Domino holders were able to use most of the trains in almost all countries - unlike holders of Interrail passes - free of charge. The exception was the Eurostar . In addition, Euro Domino was not available for one's own country of residence. The requirement for purchasing this pass was a residence for at least six months in Europe, CIS , Morocco, Tunisia or Algeria.

participating countries

After France , Spain and Italy left the concept in 2005 , Euro Domino tickets were offered for the following countries: Belgium , Bulgaria , Denmark , Germany , Finland , Greece , Great Britain , Ireland , Croatia , Luxembourg , Morocco , Macedonia , Netherlands , Norway , Austria , Poland , Portugal , Romania , Russia , Sweden , Switzerland , Serbia & Montenegro , Slovakia , Slovenia , Czech Republic , Turkey , Hungary . For Germany ( DB ), Austria ( ÖBB ) and Switzerland ( SBB ), the basic card was only available from four days of validity.

Ferry traffic

There was a 3-day pass to the countries without the possibility of extension for Adriatic traffic. Anyone who owned the Euro Domino Greece for eight days also had the option of using the Superfast and BlueStar ferries for the round trip from Ancona / Bari to Patras free of charge.

Comparison with Interrail

In contrast to Interrail , Euro Domino was largely free of surcharges. Nevertheless, Euro Domino in Spain and France had to pay considerably high surcharges for the use of high-speed trains. Since the introduction of the Interrail One-Country Passes, no surcharge has to be paid for the use of ICE trains. The days of validity could also be freely selected within a month. In addition, there were Euro Domino tickets for Russia, which also enabled you to travel on the Trans-Siberian Railway to Vladivostok .
