The 15th Eurofest took place on February 28, 2020 and was the Belarusian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ). The band VAL won the preliminary round with their song Da vidna .
format
concept
On December 31, 2019, the state broadcaster Belaruskaya Tele-Radio Campanija (BRTC) confirmed the continuation of the Eurofest concept, despite rumors about an internal selection of the performer . While in the previous year a jury alone determined the result, in 2020 a jury and the audience equally determined the winner of the preliminary decision. In the final, the audience and a jury equally chose the winner. In the event of a tie, the jury voting would have been preferred.
Choice of contribution
From December 31, 2019 to January 17, 2020, composers had the opportunity to submit a contribution to BRTC. However, BRTC reserved the right to invite composers and performers who had not applied. Unlike in previous years, BRTC no longer presented all of the submitted contributions in the live auditions, but selected the contributions intended for them in advance. The broadcaster viewed the submitted contributions until January 22, 2020 and on the same day presented the candidates who were able to present their contribution in a live audition. Twelve performers were then determined to take part in the preliminary round. The participants were determined by a jury.
According to the ATN News Agency, the station received 95 applications. These included applications from both unknown and established artists.

On January 22, 2020, BRTC published the list of 49 performers who will take part in the audition on January 27, 2020. The audition was live streamed. On January 27, 2020, following the live audition, BRTC published the twelve participants in the preliminary round.

On February 29, 2020, the Eurofest 2020 took place in the 600 Metrov Studio in Minsk . The band VAL won the preliminary decision with 20 points, although they did not win either the jury or the televoting.
