European youth capital
The European Youth Capital is an award given to European cities for a period of one year. The aim is to give the cities the opportunity to present themselves with a varied program. The focus is on youth culture and social, political and economic development. The European Youth Capital is an initiative of the European Youth Forum . The first city to receive an award in 2009 was Rotterdam , the Netherlands . The French Amiens is currently the European Youth Capital.
aims
The aim of the initiative is to promote intra-European exchange between young people. One of the most important aspects of the program is to improve the lives of young people in the cities beyond the period of the award. In addition, the young people should be involved in the planning and implementation of the events as part of the award. Promoting the active participation of young people in society and thus enabling a better future is one of the aims of the program. Cities can continue to benefit from tourism and an increased international reputation.
