European House Pappenheim

The European House Pappenheim (EHP) is a Europe- related institution in Pappenheim , a town in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . The city of Pappenheim is responsible for this. The current director is Maria Bartholomäus .

history

The EHP was founded in 2012. Head was Joachim Grzega . The EHP was operated as a Europe- related research and educational institution for politics, cultures and languages in accordance with the framework conditions of the City Council of Pappenheim . Due to its special language teaching programs, in particular the concept of language emergency doctor , the institute received supra-local media attention. In addition, numerous prominent guest speakers came to the EHP: in addition to current and former European politicians, there were also greats in political consultancy such as Heiner Flassbeck and Franz Josef Radermacher . Although the EHP had met all the requirements of the city council for the development phase and the conditions for a continuation, the city council decided in 2016, contrary to its previous decisions, to cease operations. The concepts were then largely adopted by the Donauwörth Adult Education Center . In July 2017 it was announced that the EHP will be re-established by the city of Pappenheim with Maria Bartholomäus as the head of the city of Pappenheim.

program

As part of its original concept for 2012 to 2016, the EHP offered non-partisan, scientific observation based political education, cultural history education and education in the field of language. It was an institutionalized research facility for Eurolinguistics , with a focus on applied research (above all pragmatics , the relationship between language, thinking and acting as well as language teaching for beginners). Results from research projects flowed directly into offers for a wide audience. The expert-layperson communication played a major role. As part of its educational program, the institute developed new methods and learning content and integrated alternative teaching concepts such as Basic Global English , language workout method , language emergency doctor and learning through teaching (LdL). In the spirit of LdL, a number of events were held with students. With the support of students, an interactive eurolinguistic museum was also set up. Furthermore, international conferences took place in the EHP, at which participants gave not only specialist lectures but also summaries of their new research results in a section for a general audience. The guiding principle of the EHP also included that it dealt with "genuinely European" topics in events or series of events, i.e. always illuminating them with a view to all geocultural areas of Europe (center, west, south, east, north). Most of this content has been taken over by the Donauwörth Adult Education Center and is being further developed there.
