The Volkshochschule Donauwörth is an adult education center (Vhs) in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia . Several branch offices, a yoga school and a professional training center are connected to it.

history

Vhs Donauwörth was founded in 1948 as a registered association and consists of a board of directors, management and a board of trustees. After the establishment, several branch offices were added over the years: Monheim (Schwaben) (1954), Wemding (1960), Rain am Lech (1975), Tapfheim (1976), Asbach-Bäumenheim (1977), Kaisheim (1985) and Mertingen (2013). Over the years a number of training licenses have been obtained and professional certificate courses have been offered. In 1976, for example, the Vhs Donauwörth became an electronics training center in Germany recognized by the Heinz Piest Institute (HPI) of today's Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University in Hanover ; The first IT introductory courses were offered. In 1979 the Vhs Donauwörth was the first adult education center in Bavaria to receive special grants from the Bavarian Ministry of Economics and Transport for equipment investments in the electronics sector . In 1981 it became a training center of the German Association for Welding Technology (DVS) and received the license from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) for Augsburg and Swabia for the nationwide course to obtain the IHK secretary's diploma. In the mid-1980s, among other things, nationally and globally recognized certificate courses in English were introduced. The Vhs Donauwörth has been a premium advice center for the federal education premium in the Donau-Ries district since 2009 . In 2015, the language certificate course Russian A1 (according to Telc GmbH ) was offered for the first time by an adult education center in Bavaria . In 2015 the yoga school and the Vhs Donauwörth entered into a cooperation. In 2016 the Vhs Donauwörth was officially recognized by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees as a provider of integration courses .

Projects

In 2014 the project “Democracy Driving License for Young People with and without Disabilities” was carried out as part of a Germany-wide model project funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs .

In 2016 the project “Innovative Language Teaching” was started, which in 2017 led to the project “Innovative European Language Teaching”. It is researched how in Europe language is not only used to give or request information, but also which emotions and associations it triggers and how one consequently better competence for conversations with other Europeans, but also as Europeans with people from other regions can acquire - both when learning a foreign language and when looking at one's own mother tongue. Europe is always taken into account in all its cardinal directions. The results of this eurolinguistic research flow directly into general Europe-related offers in the areas of “language courses” and “language / thinking / culture”. The project manager is Joachim Grzega . The project also integrates the concepts of Basic Global English and Speech Emergency Doctor as well as the language workout method .
