The European Curling Federation (ECF) represents the European curling sport and organizes championships at European level. The association is based in Bern .

Purpose of the association

  • To represent, promote and represent the sport of curling in Europe.
  • To maintain the cohesion of the member associations.
  • To organize European championships annually. Determine the venue and the date for the championships together with the host.

history

Jean Schild from Geneva had the idea of ​​organizing European curling championships. A six-nation tournament was held in Zurich in November 1974. There were:

In March 1975 Jean Schild brought his idea to the ICF (today - WCF ), it was decided that European championships should be established. The first European championship was held in Megève in 1975. Jean Schild became the first President of the European Curling Federation.
