The European Nazarene College (EuNC) is a higher technical school run by the Evangelical Free Church of the Church of the Nazarene . The EuNC is the training center of the Church of the Nazarene for the whole of continental Europe and the area of the former Soviet Union . But it is also open to Christians from other denominations . The aim is to train future pastors, theologians and laypeople for church service. The EuNC is international and decentralized; Since the closure of the campus in Büsingen am Hochrhein in 2011 , lessons have been held exclusively in the various learning centers .

degrees

Since 1977 the EuNC has been affiliated with the MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) in Olathe , Kansas , USA . In cooperation with MNU, the EuNC awarded a liberal arts degree as a Bachelor of Arts in Religion with 240 credit points up to 2011 . The bachelor's degree was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Schools .

With the closure of the campus, there was a realignment. The following academic programs are now offered:

  • Certificate in Spiritual Formation (2 years part-time study, 60 credit points)
  • Diploma in Christian Ministry (3 years part-time study, 120 credit points)
  • Pastoral vocational training (4 years dual study, 180 credit points)

In addition, individual courses can be taken, for which credit points are credited according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

The first two programs mentioned are accredited by the European Evangelical Accrediting Association (EEAA). Accreditation of pastoral vocational training is sought.

The programs differ from university theology studies in that they are more practical and do not use ancient languages.

The campus

Up until the summer semester of 2011, full-time courses in English were offered on the Büsingen campus. This then had to be discontinued due to the low number of students. Since 2011, studies have been carried out exclusively online or in the learning centers.

Learning centers

The EuNC has 15 branch offices, called Learning Centers , located in continental Europe and the area of the former Soviet Union . There the courses for the first two years of the academic program are offered partly in English and partly in the respective national language in a theological evening school or on weekends . Since April 2010, online courses in German have also been offered. The online course can be combined with practical training to form a dual course of study (“community academy”). With the completed pastor training, the academic requirements for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene in Germany are fulfilled.
