Eva-Maria Kern

Eva-Maria Kern (* 1971 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian engineer . She holds a professorship for knowledge management and business process design at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . She is also Vice President for Research at this university.

Life

Kern attended the Bundesgymnasium III ( Musisches Gymnasium Salzburg ) in Salzburg from 1981 to 1989 . After graduating from high school , she studied plastics technology at the Montan University Leoben ( graduate engineer 1994). She was 1994-1997 assistant and was at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Industrial Environmental protection with a thesis on high-temperature recycling of the shredder light fraction in the electric arc furnace to Dr. mont. PhD. Then she works at Semperit .

She completed a part-time MBA in Generic Management at the Montan University Leoben. From 2000 to 2005 she worked as a senior engineer at the Institute for Logistics and Management at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg . In 2005 she qualified as a professor in development and production management with the thesis Distributed Product Development - Framework Concept and Procedure for Organizational Design .

In 2005/06 she represented the professorship for technology management at the Center for Digital Technology and Management at the Technical University of Munich and in 2006/07 for knowledge management and business process design at the Faculty of Economics and Organizational Sciences at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . She has been a professor since 2007.

From 2008 to 2013 she was a member of the University Council of the Montan University Leoben and since then of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna . From 2012 to 2014 she was dean of the Faculty of Economics and Organizational Sciences. For the period from 2013 to 2018, she was appointed by the Austrian federal government as a member of the University Council of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. In 2014 she became Deputy Senate Chairwoman of the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich, and from 2016 to 2018 she held the position of Senate Chairwoman of the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich . Eva-Maria Kern has been Vice President for Research at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich since 2019.

Eva-Maria Kern's research focuses on the design of processes for the creation of knowledge-intensive goods and services. The research fields represent process and knowledge management; In this regard, the focus is on the application contexts of Safety & Security Management and Emergency Management. Kern primarily considers public institutions to be the objects of investigation, with a focus on emergency organizations. Eva-Maria Kern has carried out numerous research and third-party funded projects with the armed forces, THW , fire services and ministries.
