Eva Þengilsdóttir
Eva Þengilsdóttir ( transcribed Eva Thengilsdottir ; * 1966 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic artist and children's book author.
Life, art and literature
Eva Þengilsdóttir was born in the Icelandic capital Reykjavík. She grew up in the fishing village of Vopnafjörður in eastern Iceland.
After graduating from school in Akureyri , she first studied hotel and tourism in Glion, Switzerland . She later acquired the title of cand. Oecon. and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Iceland in Reykjavík. She then graduated from the IESE Business School's Advanced Management Program at the University of Navarra.
Eva Þengilsdóttir worked as an artist from an early age. She has participated in several exhibitions in Iceland and abroad with her work. She also organizes art workshops for children. With her work, she is particularly committed to peace and children, including at the United Nations in Geneva and for the Geneva-based non-governmental organization Graines de Paix .
She also writes children's books. Her adventure story Nála , published in 2014 . Riddarasaga. ('Nála. A Knight's Tale.') On fighting and making peace was nominated for the Icelandic Literature Prize in the same year . The illustrations for the book are inspired by the “ knight carpet ” ( Riddarateppi ). Originally as a bedspread ( rúmábreiða work created) is a 1870 tapestry kept in the National Museum of Iceland. It was embroidered using traditional Icelandic cross stitch, probably around 1700. The book was published in German in 2018.

Private life
Eva Þengilsdóttir is married to the Icelandic diplomat Martin Eyjólfsson (* 1971). He is currently the Icelandic ambassador in Berlin . The couple has three children.
