Eva Ander

Eva Ander , married Ander-Dunckel, (born October 31, 1928 in Dresden ; † January 25, 2004 there ) was a German pianist and piano teacher.

Ander studied piano from 1945 to 1950 at the Dresden Academy for Music and Theater and completed a master's degree with Johannes Schneider-Marfels and Theo Other . During this time she was already performing as a soloist with the Dresden Philharmonic : she made her stage debut in September 1949 in a concert by young artists with a piece by Richard Strauss . After completing her studies, Ander went to Berlin, where she taught piano at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin from 1951 . Among her students were the composers Christian Kozik and Helge Jung .

Ander returned to Dresden in 1963 and became a piano lecturer at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden . In 1972 she was appointed professor and ended her teaching activity in 1989. During her time at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences, she “played a decisive role in shaping the profile of the piano department”. Her students included the pianists Damian Zydek , Detlef Kaiser and Christine Nauck . After her retirement, Ander continued to work as a freelancer at the music academies in Berlin and Dresden.

Ander appeared in 36 concerts with the Dresden Philharmonic until 1990 and from 1950 also worked with the Sächsische Staatskapelle . Guest performances have taken her to Asia. She and her husband Rudolf Dunckel performed regularly with four-hand piano pieces and works for two pianos. After Dunkel's death in 1995, she accompanied opera singer Theo Adam , who had previously worked with her husband, on the piano. Other artists that Ander worked with included the violinist Reinhard Ulbricht and the cellist Clemens Dillner . Ander occupied himself particularly intensively with chamber music and made several records of chamber music pieces. She also premiered numerous piano pieces by contemporary composers from the GDR, including works by Otto Reinhold , Johannes Paul Thilman , Ruth Zechlin and Max Butting , Hugo Raithel . In 1990 Ander gave her farewell concert in Dresden under the baton of Jörg-Peter Weigle .

Ander and Dunkel lived in the Villa Lothringer Weg 3 for 30 years; After the death of her husband, Ander moved to the Outer New Town . She died in 2004 and was buried in the Weißer Hirsch forest cemetery.
