Eva Kreissl

Eva Kreissl (* 1958 in Immerath as Eva Viethen ) is a German-Austrian cultural scientist and curator at the Universalmuseum Joanneum in Graz .

Life

After finishing school, Eva Viethen studied art history and folklore from 1976 to 1978 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . She then continued her studies at the University of Vienna . In 1984 she did her doctorate in Vienna with Helmut Fielhauer and Roland Girtler on the subject of Viennese workers: life between family, wage labor and political engagement .

After completing her doctorate, she worked as a lecturer at the Ludwig Uhland Institute for Empirical Cultural Studies at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and from 1990 to 1995 at the Institute for European Ethnology at the University of Vienna. At the same time she worked as a freelance cultural scientist and curator until 2005. Eva Kreissl designed numerous exhibitions in museums, a. a. the museum village Trattenbach as part of the Upper Austrian Provincial Exhibition in 1998 . She has been a curator at the Universalmuseum Joanneum in Graz since 2005 and has developed and implemented numerous concepts for special exhibitions at the Joanneum. A focus of her research activities are folklore and cultural-historical topics, including a. the development of folk medicine and superstition .

In addition to numerous scientific specialist publications, she also published works of fiction with a scientific background.
