Eva Labouvie

Eva-Maria Labouvie (born June 29, 1957 in Saarlouis ) is a German historian .

Life

After graduating from high school in Dillingen / Saar in 1977 Eva Labouvie studied history and German at Saarland University in Saarbrücken . Here she did her doctorate in 1989 on the subject of witchcraft and superstition in the early modern period . From 1987 to 1991 she worked at the chair for modern history at Saarland University. From 1991 to 2002 she was head of the research center for historical regional research and the department for historical cultural research . In 1997 she completed her habilitation in the Department of Modern History and Regional History on the subject of birth and female culture from 1500 to 1910 . Since April 2002 she has been professor of modern history (17th – 19th centuries) with a focus on gender research at the Institute for History (IGES) at Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg .

Since 1999 she has been the German representative of the International Federation for Research in Women's History. From 2002 to 2011 she was the head and coordinator of the Working Group for Historical Women and Gender Studies e. V. in the new federal states , from 2011 to 2014 she was chairwoman of the nationwide working group on historical women and gender studies (AKHFG).

Awards

In 1995 she was awarded the Heinz Maier Leibnitz Prize for her work . In 2016 she was appointed ambassador for equality by the State Women's Council of Saxony-Anhalt .
