Eva Lux (actually Josefa Maria Lux ; born June 19, 1958 in Düsseldorf ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament since 2010 .

Life

After finishing secondary school in 1975, Lux completed an apprenticeship as an office clerk, which she completed in 1978. She then worked as a clerk, from 1978 to 1979 at the Dürener Zeitung , from 1980 to 1982 at the Deutsches Ärzteverlag and from 2008 to 2010 at the administration of the German Bundestag .

Eva Lux has lived in Leverkusen since 1990 and has been chairwoman of the local non-profit organization Lebenshilfe since 1999 . She is married and has three children.

Lux joined the SPD in 1993. She was a member of the board from 1999 and from 2005 to 2017 chairwoman of the SPD sub-district Leverkusen. From 2006 to 2018 she was deputy chairwoman of the state party council of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia . Furthermore, from 2007 to 2009 she was a member of the state board of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women .

In 2004, Lux moved into the Leverkusen city council for the first time, to which she has belonged ever since. She was first mayor from 2009 to 2015 and has been second mayor of the city of Leverkusen since 2015.

In the 2010 state election , Lux won constituency 20 (Leverkusen) . With 39% of the first votes (compared to 36.7% for Rüdiger Scholz from the CDU ) it made it into the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the state elections in 2012 , she won the constituency again as a direct candidate with 43% of the first votes. In the state elections in 2017 , she ran again in her constituency, but this time was defeated by Scholz with a first vote of 33.6% and then entered parliament via the SPD's state list. In the 17th electoral term she is a member of the State Parliament's Committee on Equality and Women, the Petions Committee and the Integration Committee.
