Eva Maria Ziegler (born August 4, 1962 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian ambassador .

Life

Eva Maria Ziegler graduated from high school in Vienna in 1980 . 1980 she studied until 1986 Law and became a doctor of law doctorate. From 1981 to 1986 she studied singing at the University of Music in Vienna . From 1986 to 1988 she studied international cultural management. From 1989 to 1990 he assisted the General Director of Olivetti Austria and was responsible for public relations . In 1991 she entered the foreign service and was employed in the Directorate General for Integration Policy and Economic Affairs. In 1992 she did culture and public relations at the embassy in Brussels. From 1992 to 1993 she was employed in the Directorate General for Integration Policy and Economic Affairs. From 1993 to 1996 she was an embassy counselor for economic issues and integration policy in Bonn . From 1996 to 1998 she was Deputy Permanent Representative of Austria to the Western European Union in Brussels . From 1998 to 2001 she headed the Security Policy Unit (ESDP, NATO, WEU). From 2001 to 2003 she was in the cabinet of Benita Ferrero-Waldner , responsible for general foreign policy and questions of international law. From 2003 to 2008 she was Consul General in Milan . From June 2008 to April 2012 she was ambassador to Beirut . From May 2012 to October 2017 she was head of the department for South Tyrol and Southern Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has been the ambassador to Nicosia / Cyprus since October 2017.
