Eva Ström (* 1947 in Lidingö ) is a Swedish writer , literary critic and doctor .

Life

Eva Ström completed her training as a doctor and worked in this profession from 1974 to 1988. In the following years she focused on working as a writer and literary critic. She mainly wrote poetry and prose . As a critic, she mainly worked for the newspaper Sydsvenskan .

Strom's poetic debut took place in 1977 with Den brinnande Zeppelinaren . Her literary breakthrough came two years later with Steinkind . Since then she has published a number of attention-grabbing collections of poetry, including Brandenburg , Revbensstädera , Rött vill till rött and Kniv och flod . Her poems are known for their typical medical imagery and a feminine sphere of association. But she also wrote novels such as Bröd and Claires leende and in 1994 a biography about Edith Södergran .

On January 20, 2010, she was elected head of the Academy of Sciences for her achievements in humanities and outstanding services to science .

Today Eva Ström lives in Kristianstad .
