The Bellman Prize ( Swedish Bellmanpriset ) is a Swedish literary prize . The award is named after the Swedish national poet Carl Michael Bellman . It was donated in 1920 by Anders Zorn and his wife Emma and is currently (as of 2014) endowed with 250,000 crowns (24,298.27 euros ). The Swedish Academy wants to use it to honor “aspiring Swedish poets” every year, but this is rarely observed in the recent awarding reality. According to the will of the founders, the prize was awarded to Erik Axel Karlfeldt until his death. He was then awarded to Albert Engström , also for life .
