Bertil Frans Harald Malmberg (born August 13, 1889 in Härnösand , † February 11, 1958 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish poet.

Life

After studying in Uppsala , Berlin , Lund and Munich , Malmberg completed his studies in Stockholm in 1907. In 1908 he made his debut with the Bränder (fire) collection. The best known of his works is the autobiographically influenced novel Åke and his world , which depicts the childhood of a little boy in empathetic and poetic language, where the annual summer holidays that little Åke spent with his family in the country are described. The two-time film adaptation, most recently in 1984 with u. a. Stellan Skarsgård , has made a major contribution to the work's popularity.
