Göran Sonnevi (born October 2, 1939 in Lund in Skåne ) is a Swedish poet and translator . He grew up in Halmstad and studied literature at Lund University .

He made his lyrical debut in 1961 with the band Outfört (Unexecuted). This was followed by a number of other collections, and he became known as the translator of Ezra Pound and Hans Magnus Enzensberger , whose works he translated into Swedish.

Göran Sonnevi is considered one of the most important representatives of contemporary Swedish poetry. In addition to other awards, he received the Swedish Academy Nordic Award in 2005 and the Nordic Council Literature Award in 2006 for his Oceanen (The Ocean) collection.
