Gösta Ågren
Sven Gösta Ågren (born August 3, 1936 in Nykarleby ; † June 24, 2020 ) was a Finnish-Swedish poet , essayist and literary scholar at Stockholm University .
Life
Agren was editor of People's Daily Ny Tid ( "New Time") and an employee of the University Library of Helsinki . After completing a two-year directing course at the Svenska Filminstitutet film school, he studied Humaniora at Stockholm University in the 1970s , where he also disputed with a treatise on Dan Andersson . In 1955, Ågren made his debut with the poetry collection Kraft och tanke (“Power and Thought”), but the real breakthrough came in the 1970s.
He served as a senior member of the Swedish Writers' Association of Finland from 1958 to 1961, 1968 to 1971, 1972 to 1977 and 1995 to 1996. Ågren has also directed . But most of his work is poetry , prose and radio plays. His works have been translated into Finnish, English, French, Icelandic, Spanish and Russian.
The writers Erik and Leo Ågren were his older brothers. Gösta Ågren died in June 2020 at the age of 83.
