Lars Forssell

Lars Hans Carl Abraham Forssell (born January 14, 1928 in Stockholm ; † July 26, 2007 there ) was a Swedish author and cabaret artist.

Life

After attending school in Stockholm's Kungsholmen district , Lars Forssell studied in the United States in the 1940s . In 1952 he finished his studies in Uppsala with the degree Filosofie kandidat, which corresponds roughly to today 's Bachelor of Arts .

Forssell initially worked as a cultural journalist for various newspapers and literary magazines (Utsikt, BLM, Poesi, Dagens Nyheter , Expressen ); he also worked as a songwriter for cabarets and his own revues . Due to his collection of poems, he was elected to chair No. 4 in the Swedish Academy in 1971 as the successor to Sigfrid Siwertz .

In the wider Swedish public, he was best known for his lyrics. In the 1970s, as a poet and songwriter, he wrote texts for the Melodifestivalen and for Lill-Babs, among other things . Forssell's works include poetry collections, song books, children's books, dramas, librettos for operas, and translations.

He had been married to Kerstin Hane since 1951 and was the father of Jonas Forssell . Forssell died on July 26, 2007 at the age of 79.
