Peter Röckl
Peter Röckl (* 1945 in Landshut ) is a German conductor and musician .
Life
In 1965 he graduated from the Hans-Carossa-Gymnasium Landshut . Röckl studied school music with a focus on conducting at the Munich University of Music and passed his exams with distinction. He then did intensive training in musicology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and at the University of Regensburg . From 1971 to 2010 he worked as a music teacher at grammar schools in Vilsbiburg and Landshut.
As early as 1962, he was one of the founding members of the Landshut Symphony Orchestra, which he has directed since it was founded. In 1976 he founded the Vilsbiburg choir group, in 1980 he took over the management of the Landshuter Liedertafel, renamed the Landshut Concert Choir. He knew how to bring the three ensembles together into one big whole. His favorite works include the Carmina Burana ( Carl Orff ), the Mozart and Verdi Requiem , The Creation ( Joseph Haydn ) and the Lobgesang-Symphonie ( Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy ).
Italian bel canto music is just as much a part of his repertoire as German opera literature. Röckl's commitment also applies to modern music, as evidenced by the performance of the Liverpool Oratorio by Paul McCartney and Carl Davis and the performance of some Beatles hits and numbers from the musicals Sister Act and My Fair Lady .
Promoting young talent is particularly important to him. Over the years, not only have young music students been employed in the orchestra and choir, but particularly talented musicians have also been hired as soloists.
In 1979, Röckl was the first recipient of youth culture from the Rotary Club Landshut. Other prestigious awards such as the Badge of Honor of the Bavarian Prime Minister, the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon, the Golden Citizen Medal of the City of Landshut and the City of Vilsbiburg's Culture Prize followed. He was honored for the intensive promotion of young musicians and for the numerous excellent concerts that he has performed with the three ensembles in the Bavarian region and in neighboring countries (France, Italy, Hungary) for over 30 years.
