The Evangelical Reformed Church is a listed church building on Marktstrasse in Heiden , a district of Lage in the Lippe district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The church was originally under the patronage of Saints Peter and Paul. The first building was an apsid hall , probably from the 10th or 11th century. The oldest part of the existing structure is the tower from the 11th to 12th centuries. The core of the ship is probably from 12./13. Century, it was then gradually expanded to the hall church . The south aisle is older than the north. The central nave was newly vaulted , a choir with a 3/8 end was added, the tower was raised. The winding spire from 1594 was renewed in 1663. The walls are divided by two and three-part tracery windows, some of which are decorated with fish bubbles. A major renovation of the church was carried out in 1961. The interior proportions were regained by lowering the floor between 1970 and 1971. Vaults, some with and some without ribs, rest on cross-shaped pillars of different dimensions. Wall paintings were uncovered in 1958 . To the side of the choir window is a cycle of apostles under canopies from the beginning of the 15th century. The paintings from the second half of the 15th century depict Saints Sebastian and Hubertus; Around 1530, a larger than life Christophorus was painted on the west wall in front of a landscape background.

Furnishing

The sacrament niche with pinnacles and a pelican was made around 1500

The particularly beautiful, important medieval bells were cast in the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. The bell of 1466, a cast of Hans Grawick, carries an extensive Majuskelinschrift .
